Alternate Energy - Briquette

Briquette : This is alternate enengry by pyrolisis method.

  • The waste materials are put inside the drum and set fire
  • After burning it is sealed with water and drum is placed on it and without oxygen it is charred.
  • The charred material is mixed with 20% clay and make a dough and placed in the mould to make the briquette.

GASIFIER: COIR DUST

  • The coir dust, which is a by-product or a waste from the coir fiber industries
  • Since it is contained with large amount of moisture, this moisture content leads to the development of fungi and algae and affects the environment.
  • The depletion of conventional energy sources is compensated with the usage of alternative sources of energy like biomass fuels.
  • The coir dust is a biomass fuel. Thus the gasification of coir dust results in production of gases, which can be used in an engine and further for the production of electricity.
  • Biomass includes wide range of fuels such as wood, and agricultural products etc, which contain stored chemical energy
  • This stored chemical energy can be used to produce useful electrical energy.
  • The project area is with nearly 23688ha of coconut cultivation. The coir dust that is a by-product or waste from coir fiber industries is left as such on the roadsides.
  • The gasification of the coir dust will produce producer gas, which can be used for electricity.
